Together, Tiffany and Jeff launched Adoren's beloved Signature Wooden Name Signs, combining Tiffany's eye for design with Jeff’s
precision carpentry and finishing skills. Tiffany streamlined a simplified ordering process, created a customer-favorite "over-the-crib" visual instant preview tool, and curated the best fonts and product styles to the product line. Jeff brought his expertise in precision carpentry, CNC and laser work, and professional cabinet-grade paint and stain finishing. This collaboration marked the beginning of Adoren’s transformation from a home studio into a thriving business. They dropped the "Studio" from the name and began to dream bigger for Adoren, expanding the product line and learning a lot along the way.

Emery & Oak is the heart and soul of the Emery family’s entrepreneurial journey, founded on the values of creativity, passion, and craftsmanship. As the parent company, Emery & Oak oversees four interconnected brands: Adoren, Heritage Sign Co., Artisan Empire, and Crestwood Cabinet Co.

The first inklings of Adoren began when graphic designer Tiffany Emery became pregnant with her and Jeff's first child, Aubree "Bree" Emery. Like so many new moms, she wanted to create a special space for her daughter that was both beautiful and personal, so she began to design her first collection of nursery artwork "straight from the mama heart," as she says.

One year later, in December 2015, "Adoren Studio" was officially born in the guest bedroom of the Emery's Chicago condo, when, on a whim, Tiffany decided to launch that first collection of nursery artwork into a little online Etsy shop with a hope and a prayer for extra childcare funds. God is good, and his plan exceeded all their dreams and expectations by launching Adoren Studio into a full fledged business by the end of 2016.

Our birth story

Growing up

In 2018, as their family grew with the addition of baby Jett, their business also flourished. Jeff Emery, with his extensive background in professional cabinet making and carpentry, joined Tiffany to expand Adoren’s offerings. Jeff had worked with his father, Jack Emery, since high school in their family kitchen business, Chicago Kitchen Center. Sadly, Jack passed away in early 2015 when Bree was only two months old. Jeff continued to work in the family business until 2018 when Adoren became so large that he needed to pause the operations of Chicago Kitchen Center so that Adoren could continue to expand within the Chicago woodshop.

Expanding horizons

Heritage Sign Co. specialized in wedding and family-based signage and quickly took Etsy by storm, becoming a beloved fan favorite. The documented journey of launching Heritage Sign Co. served as a practical guide for tens of thousands of students, helping them understand how Etsy works in a real and tangible way. This perfect win-win scenario underscored God’s direction and provision for them every step of the way. Heritage Sign Co. established itself as a leader in the wedding industry, recognized for its quality and personalized products and continued to expand on Etsy and beyond.

In 2020, the Emerys moved to Kentucky and managed bi-state operations between Illinois and Kentucky. By 2023, the newly launched Emery & Oak location in Crestwood, Kentucky, enabled them to bring all four brands under one roof. This had been a pipe dream for Tiffany, to find a way to move to her hometown and relocate their business, and now was an ever-present reality.

That's when Tiffany had an idea to not just tell others how to get started on Etsy, but instead to actually show the launch of a new brand and Etsy shop and document the entire process.

Thus, Heritage Sign Co. was born as the Emery's latest Etsy shop and the subject of Tiffany's award winning course Etsy Launch.

In 2020, during the challenging times of the pandemic, Tiffany and Jeff felt compelled to share the knowledge they had gained from their successful business ventures.
This led to the creation of Artisan Empire, a brand dedicated to helping other creative women succeed on Etsy. They wanted to provide real, tangible guidance on how to start a business on Etsy, during a time when so many businesses need to get online quickly.

Jeff's family business, Chicago Kitchen Center, had been known for its quality kitchen cabinets. However, when Adoren’s operations required more space and funding in 2018, the Emery family made the strategic decision to pause Chicago Kitchen Center and invest in Adoren's growth. This facilitated their move to Crestwood, Kentucky - Tiffany's hometown.
Now, in the summer of 2024, they are thrilled to revive their cabinet business under a new brand, Crestwood Cabinet Co., continuing Jack Emery’s legacy with a fresh and modern approach to custom cabinetry.

Reviving a legacy

Emery & Oak now thrives as a dynamic family business, uniting four unique brands: Adoren, Heritage Sign Co., Artisan Empire, and Crestwood Cabinet Co. Each brand reflects the Emery family's dedication to quality, creativity, and empowering others. Their team, spread across several states and including talented designers, customer service representatives, and skilled woodworkers, embodies their shared vision and values.

At the core of everything they do is the desire to make spaces beautiful and personal, to help others realize their entrepreneurial dreams, and to create products that hold meaning and quality.

Our future

"When we reflect on our journey, we are in awe of how Adoren began with the smallest of intentions and how God has guided us every step of the way.  He is the waymaker who has both opened and closed doors throughout this wild ride and has taught us in real time what it means to "make a plan, while God laughs."  We are so grateful to be able to spend our days creatively, working with our hands and amidst such a beautiful, supportive community of family and friends.  We're forever grateful to every customer who has ever supported our small family business, it truly has meant the world to us."
